Winter 2007 update
10th December 2007
The newly restored Castle Gardens are now open!
With generous funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Lisburn City Council has provided a natural space for young and old to enjoy. The 5 year project which started in 2003 has included archaeological excavations and large scale renovations of the 17th century garden features and later 19th and 20th century monuments in the public park.
Facilities
These include an Information Point with displays outlining the history of the Gardens and their restoration. A rare surviving building from the Second World War, an air raid shelter, has been internally transformed to provide a bright new Education Centre. Public toilets are fully accessible during park opening hours.
Opening Hours
Castle Gardens is open during winter months (October - March) between 8am - 5pm daily (including weekends). From 1 April 2008 - 30 September 2008 its hours will be 8.00am - 8.00pm. It will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Park Rangers are on duty throughout all opening hours.
